Karen writes: “I call this appliqué ‘Passion’. It was originally created for a ministry evening, and every element has significance. For example: God’s hand is reaching down. The heart symbolises Jesus, broken for us. There’s also a needle in there: his piercing but also how our sinfulness must so often pierce His heart. Out of God’s love for us flows the rainbow: His promise, and also the different gifts He has given us. The tears are God’s, for our sin, but also watering and nurturing the passions He has given us. The people are family. The lily is often used in celebration or mourning, and the daisy is childlike, how our faith should be. The music notes show how we can return thanks in worship. And as for ‘faith’, it is the passion for faith in our Saviour that keeps us close to the One who saves... It is in sharing our passions, our gifts that we honour God by passing our love for God on to others. Passion = pass it on!”
Your church may not have access to textile banners, but Karen has offered for hers to be photographed and printed on high quality vinyl to make them affordable and accessible. They look wonderful in a traditional setting as a focal point.
