Inside this tract are the following words:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17
There is nothing more final than death. Once someone has died, it is too late to tell them how sorry you are for hurting them, or how much you love them. There are no more opportunities to make amends or hear the other side of the story or just sit in quiet mutual understanding. Death takes people from us for good.
Jesus’ friends, followers and enemies all thought they had seen the last of him as he took his final breath on the cross. Some sank into dark grief. Some, no doubt, breathed a sigh of relief. Imagine what it must have felt like to see him again among them three days later alive and well?
When Jesus rose from the dead he was announcing in the most dramatic way imaginable the possibility of a new start for humankind. His resurrection was a definitive defeat of death, a joyous and triumphant overturning of the usual order of things. In Christ we are made new! In Christ we are no longer death-bound!
You can be made new and gifted a fresh start. All you need to do is believe. He’s waiting for you – ready when you are.
Many churches cover a cross with flowers on Easter Sunday. This design would tie that idea in really well. Remind people that Christ is risen and that the old has gone and the new has come!
