Have you been scammed recently? There’s so much of it about, thanks to the number of internet fraudsters out there. And
while 99 out of 100 of us may be able to spot a con at 50 metres, there’s always one who doesn’t ...
Then there are the phone calls trying to fast-talk you into insurance, or double glazing, or a new heating supplier. No wonder many people these days decide to trust nobody apart from themselves.
The trouble is, many of us have already been tricked, without even knowing it.

What are the things we long for, as human beings?
To be loved? Definitely. To know our lives have value? Certainly. To be masters of our own destiny? Absolutely.
We have been fooled into thinking we’re in charge.
You see, mankind has chosen to focus on all the things we can do, and conveniently turned a blind eye to all the things we
can’t.
● We can send people into space, and land on other planets. Yet we fail to look after our own.
● We can communicate across vast distances in the blink of an eye. Yet many of us never talk to our neighbours.
● We can invent more and more sophisticated machines to build things, to heal our bodies, and to do more of our
work. Yet many are without work, and poverty and greed continue to wreck our world.
The Bible says: “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’.” (Psalm 14:1)

We think that we are in control, but it is sin – the things we do, say and think that are wrong – that controls us.
God sent his son Jesus to win the ultimate victory over sin through his death on the cross, and resurrection. This brings forgiveness for those who follow him – and true freedom.
As Paul wrote in one of his letters: “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures... but when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” (Titus 3: 3-5)
Don’t fall for the lie – surrender your life to Christ and let HIM take charge. He will begin to change you from the inside out, and you’ll become the person you were always meant to be.
It’s the best way to live!
